I’m Alex.  I’ve been tattooing in Crested Butte for 10 years.  In the beginning, I liked to challenge myself with whatever style the customer requested.  I learned many techniques that I still incorporate into my regular work. Janice, my amazing wife and tattoo artist, helped me to refine my style towards neotraditional.

I love making compositions with large elements and strong colors.  I’m obsessed with quality and I prioritize clean designs that fit the body, are clearly legible and will age well.  This art works best for medium and large scale work so I am honored to take on your bigger projects.  For subject matter, I’m often up for a challenge but my passion remains in nature, animals, skulls and flowers.

 Janice and I have been fortunate to make a couple tattoo trips over seas.  We have tattooed together in 12 countries.  Through conventions, seminars and guest spots, we have learned from some of the world’s best artists.  Traveling fuels our inspiration through exposure to different art, architecture and new experiences.  I have a huge respect for Japanese art and love to incorporate waves, clouds and wind bars into my backgrounds.  These elements flow well with the body and bold black ink helps pop contrast with color elements.
